Challenge
A large retail company, needed to revamp how they created communication materials (photos, texts, 3D models, films, etc.). Transitioning from traditional methods to digital workflows highlighted the need for new internal tools. Their existing methods were inefficient, relying on a patchwork of unsatisfactory services and channels, which made repetitive tasks cumbersome and time-consuming, leaving little room for analysis.
Approach
We conducted extensive interviews with co-workers to understand their current and future workflows. Given the complexity of the organisation, we facilitated numerous workshops and sessions with stakeholders across various business units to gain their approval. Collaborating closely with architects, product owners, and developers, we conceptualised, prototyped, and tested a new tool with key user groups. This process ensured that both technical demands and business needs were met and seamlessly integrated into the final concept.
Outcome
The result was a modular microfrontend application, featuring a framework with shared functionalities (login, project administration, settings, notifications) and independent modules supporting specific process steps. I played a key role in defining the system and designing the framework, and I also supported the development teams creating the different modules.
The new system streamlines operations by eliminating repetitive tasks and replacing manual document handling. Its modular approach ensures technical sustainability and manageability for the organisation.
